Booky Oren
Executive Chairman

Mr. Oren has over 25 years of experience in various managerial roles in a large variety of companies.

Mr. Oren served as the Corporate Vice President for Business Development at Netafim, the largest micro-irrigation company in the world.

In 2003, Mr. Oren was nominated as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mekorot, Israel’s National Water Company. Mr. Oren initiated the “Watech” program that motivated Mekorot to improve its technological capabilities by using its existing facilities for the good of hundreds of entrepreneurs.

Mr. Oren has made a major contribution in shaping Israel’s leadership in water technologies. He serves as the chairman of WATEC Israel– a leading event in the Global water technology industry.

On November 2006 Mr. Oren has joined the Arison Group, one of the biggest investments groups in Israel, as the Executive Chairman of the MIYA, a holding company for water equipment and technologies with initial capital of $100M.

Hillel Milo
Managing Partner, Aquagrofund

Hillel Milo is one of the pioneers of the venture capital industry in Israel, who is personally responsible for over a dozen exits. In the early nineties he co-founded and was General Partner at Walden Israel, one of the first Venture Capital Funds in Israel. In 1995 he co-founded Clal Venture Capital (a $40M venture capital fund) and was its CEO until it completed its life cycle at the beginning of 2002. In 1997 he co-founded Infinity VC (an $85M venture capital fund) and was its Managing General Partner until 1999, in parallel to his role as CEO of Clal Venture Capital. In 2001 he joined Alice Ventures, a $220M European fund, as Partner until mid-2006. Prior to his venture capital years, Hillel served on the Management team of a private European financial group for four years. Before that he co-founded Zoran Israel and was its Operations Manager for four years. His first four years in business were in the U.S.A. in management positions at Dixie Steel, in a major turnaround and then started the Energy Division at Dixie. Hillel holds a B.Sc. in mechanical engineering and a Masters degree in Management Sciences.

Jack Levy
Partner, Israel Cleantech Ventures

TiCOC Cleanovation conference advisory board member Jack LevyJack is a Partner at Israel Cleantech Ventures. He leads the fund’s activities in water related technologies, green chemistry and biofuels and sits on the boards of Aqwise, Emefcy, FRX Polymers and Scodix. Jack has extensive experience in building high-growth companies and leading management teams through successful capital raising, international expansion and acquisition processes – both from the position of an executive in a successful venture-backed company and from his years as a corporate lawyer.

Prior to establishing ICV, Jack was Vice President and General Counsel of Register.com, guiding the firm as it expanded operations into five countries and multiple business lines and successfully grew to become a leader in its market. He also played a central role in the company’s IPO. Previously, Jack served as a corporate attorney for Tulchinsky Stern in Tel Aviv and with the New York law firm Wilkie Farr & Gallagher.

Jack routinely speaks at cleantech forums and conferences around the globe.   Jack holds a J.D. from Columbia Law School where he was a Stone Scholar and a B.A from Harvard College, where he graduated magna cum laude.

Paul Dickerson
Partner, Haynes and Boone, LLP

Cleanovation Conference Advisory Board Member Paul Dickerson

Paul Dickerson, a recognized leader and sought-after speaker on issues of clean tech and energy efficiency, launched Haynes and Boone’s Clean Tech practice group in 2008. Paul, a partner who offices in the firm’s Houston and D.C. offices, returned to the firm to launch the group, a new concentration for the firm that builds upon the firm’s broad experience in intellectual property, litigation, technology, financing and many other legal issues that companies in the nascent industry must face.

Paul served as Chief Operating Officer of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) from 2006 until his return to Haynes and Boone (where he worked as an associate from 2000 to 2005). He oversaw the EERE’s $1.8 billion budget and helped move alternative and renewable energy technologies from the “vision” stage to real-world development.

Paul is knowledgeable on the pressing needs of the global energy market and regularly speaks about the tangible, real-world solutions that can be implemented now, from increasing efficiency, bio-fuels, solar and wind investments, to connecting venture capitalists with the cutting-edge scientific researchers in the field of sustainable energy.

He also served as Chief of Staff for the United States and Foreign Commercial Service at the U.S. Department of Commerce. While at the Commerce Department, Paul was responsible for day-to-day management of the Commercial Service’s worldwide network of 1,700 employees in 260 offices and for directing the implementation of the Commercial Service’s worldwide priorities and policies.

Paul has extensive experience with corporate turn-arounds and holds great knowledge about the new wave of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies that will power America and the world in the 21st century. Under his leadership, the Department of Energy changed its direction toward commercialization of technology and quickened the pace of moving these groundbreaking energy solutions from the laboratory to the international marketplace.

He now helps Haynes and Boone clients as they continue to develop products and businesses in the Clean Tech arena, in the U.S. and abroad.

Karl R. Rabago
Vice President for Distributed Energy Services

rabagoheadshot-150x150Karl Rabago’s portfolio of responsibilities at the City of Austin’s municipal electric utility includes energy efficiency, solar energy, green buildings, key accounts, climate protection, and market development and research. He has almost 20 years experience in electricity policy and regulation, emerging energy markets development, clean energy technology development, and the implementation of sustainability principles. He has served as a regulator, business builder, corporate sustainability leader, R&D program manager, consultant, and advocate. His past positions include: Director of Government and Regulatory Affairs, AES Wind Generation; Director, Standards and Practices, Greenhouse Gas Services, LLC; Deputy Assistant Secretary, US Department of Energy; Commissioner, Texas Public Utility Commission; Sustainability Leader, NatureWorks, LLC; and Managing, Director & Principal, Rocky Mountain Institute.

Carl Rush
Vice President – Organic Growth

Carl-Rush-Waste-ManagementCarl Rush joined Waste Management in 2001 as Director of the In-Plant Services Group, now called Upstream. Waste Management, Inc., based in Houston, Texas, is a FORTUNE 200 company with revenues of approximately $13 billion and 50,000 employees.

Upstream provides customized environmental services, typically on a customer’s site. These services include waste management, management of third party suppliers and reduction strategies.

Carl became Vice President of Upstream in early 2005, and a year later he accepted the position of Vice President of Organic Growth. This group is charged with finding growth opportunities that leverage the company’s current asset base.

Before joining Waste Management, Carl was President and CEO of The GNI Group for 15 years. GNI was engaged in the management of hazardous waste and the manufacture of specialty chemicals. He received a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in business administration from Texas Christian University.
